Blog timeline - adjusting styling (and minor issue)

Greetings, I would like to adjust the style of the blog timeline in two aspects 1) Compared to the demo site, i cannot display the element with the "Date"" of the blog post (blue square), neither in teaser nor in post. How can i activate it? 2) The different timeline graphical elements (circle with month/year, central line and post outline) are too light and hard to see. Can the colour be changed? How and where?
