share this slows everything down

The 'ShareThis' module, while extremely good looking and functional, adds several requests to external urls to get what I assume are various tracking cookeis. These requests consistently add about a full second to every page load. This is completely uacceptible. When you're trying to shave a few 10s or 100s of  ms here and there with compression, aggreagtion, etc. etc. etc., a second is an eternity. Can you please in the future choose another module to handle the social sharing?
